Los Angeles World Flute circle
***** Possible dates for Spring 2021 are pending the resolution of Covid-19 restrictions and other social distancing directives for Los Angeles County. I'm participating in the World Flute Society Virtual Flute Circle, and occasionally the San Diego Flute Circle, via Zoom. Feel free to join me there! *****
What is a World Flute Circle?
Coming from a tradition popular with players of the Native American style flute, it is a gathering where beginners through professionals come together to share, learn, perform, and generally enjoy music-making and socializing.
The first inaugural meeting of the Los Angeles Flute Circle was held on August 4th, 2013. We had a great turnout of beginners, amateur players, and professional flutists and flute teachers, as well as multi-instrumentalists & percussionists.
All world flutes are welcome at our Circle, as well as percussion, didgeridoo, harp, guitar, and other acoustic instruments. Since so many participants have a LOT of flutes, each meeting will have an announced theme or focus, so people can plan which instruments to bring. Performers & "open mic" participants - you are welcome to bring a small sound system if you wish; otherwise performances are acoustic. You may also bring CDs to sell.
Schedule - Our flute circle is held quarterly, on a Sunday afternoon, subject to the host's (that's me!) schedule. Street parking is free and unlimited on Sundays. Participants usually bring a snack or potluck dish to share. Beverages will be provided. Contact me for specifics & to be added to the email list for announcements:
